Beer Tap Darts Rules
Tap beer with your darts: every dart pours its score into your glass, and the most beers after the last round wins.
Overview
Beer Tap is a pouring game inspired by bar and arcade darts. Every player has a 0.5 l glass (500 ml), and every dart pours its score into it in milliliters. Fill the glass and you tap a beer, and a new, empty glass is ready for the next dart.
Hit exactly 500 ml for a perfect pour, but anything over the brim is spilled. Play 5, 10, or 15 rounds; after the last round, the player with the most beers wins. Play solo to see how many beers you can tap.
Game Setup
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Players | 1 to 8 |
| Glass | 0.5 l (500 ml) |
| Rounds | 5, 10, or 15 (default 10) |
| Format | Single leg or best of N legs |
| Darts per Turn | 3 |
Pouring
Every dart pours its score in milliliters:
- Single: the number in ml — a Single 20 pours 20 ml.
- Double: twice the number — a Double 20 pours 40 ml.
- Triple: three times the number — a Triple 20 pours 60 ml, the biggest pour on the board.
- Bull: 25 ml for the outer bull and 50 ml for the bullseye.
- Miss: nothing is poured, but the dart still counts.
Filling the Glass
The glass keeps its level from turn to turn until it is full:
- Below the brim: the beer stays in the glass and the level rises.
- Perfect pour: exactly 500 ml fills the glass to the brim. You tap one beer, and a new, empty glass starts.
- Over the brim: you still tap one beer, but the excess is spilled and lost. The next dart pours into a new, empty glass.
- One glass per dart: a dart pours at most 60 ml, so it can never fill two glasses.
Winning
- Most beers: after the last round, the player with the most beers wins the leg.
- Tiebreaks: a tie goes to the player with the fuller current glass, then to the player who spilled less, then to the player earlier in the throwing order.
- Legs: the first player to win the required number of legs wins the match.
Game Flow Example
A turn that starts with 1 beer tapped and 410 ml in the glass:
| Dart | Throw | Result | Glass (ml) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Triple 20 | Pours 60 ml; the glass rises to 470 ml | 470 |
| 2 | Triple 20 | Only 30 ml fit: beer #2 is tapped and the other 30 ml is spilled | 0 |
| 3 | Double 20 | Pours 40 ml into the new glass | 40 |
The turn ends with 2 beers and 40 ml in the glass. From 480 ml, a Single 20 would have been a perfect pour with nothing spilled.
Statistics
Dartly tracks every player's games and wins, beers tapped, milliliters poured and poured per dart, milliliters spilled and the spill rate, perfect pours, the best turn, and the most beers in a game.
Confirmation Mode
Confirmation Mode is an optional setting you can turn on when creating a game, or toggle mid-game from the top bar. Tapping the dartboard opens a magnified 1.5× overlay showing the segment you hit, its two neighbors, and the Bull — tap the correct segment to confirm the throw, or tap outside the overlay to cancel with nothing recorded. It's especially useful in Beer Tap, where the 20 sits between the 1 and the 5, so one wrong segment can cost you most of a pour. Misses are always registered immediately and skip the confirmation step.
Strategy Tips
- Aim high: even with nothing but Triple 20s, a glass takes 9 darts to fill, so go for the biggest pour every time.
- Near the brim, play it safe: any dart that reaches 500 ml finishes the beer, and the next glass starts empty either way. At 480 ml, a safe Single 20 taps the beer just as well as a Triple 20.
- Exact pours only break ties: hitting exactly 500 ml keeps your spill low, and the spill decides a leg only when the beers and the current glass are level.
- Every milliliter counts: when the beers are tied, the fuller glass wins, so keep pouring with your last darts.
